Pueblo West prepares for tumbleweed take over
Pueblo West is bracing for the worst when it comes to tumbleweeds.
This comes after the district handed out a record number of weed violations last year.
There were more than 1,200 weed violations in 2015, the most ever in the district’s history.
The district said the wet weather early last year caused an overwhelming amount of weeds.
Pueblo West Fire Division Chief Brad Davidson said the tumbleweeds this season are going to keep his crews on their toes.
“When there are tumbleweeds, we really monitor it, because depending on the growth of them and the depth of them, we have to increase the fire danger at times, because it’s so dry,” he said.
Of the more than 1,200 violations handed out, two property owners were taken to court for not complying.
