Springs police investigate east side shooting; Sand Creek High School locked down

Colorado Springs police is looking for a shooter who opened fire in a gas station parking lot Wednesday.

The incident began at around 4:15 p.m. on January 13, 2016.

People inside two vehicles got into a fight, which led to the shooting, police said. Officers stopped one vehicle, but another got away.

District 49 says that the regular school day was already over when the shooting was reported, but that some after school activities were still underway. The district says that when the school was locked down, parents who were waiting for students in the parking lot were brought inside.

Two girls’ basketball games that were scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the school were cancelled.

Police say the victim in this shooting showed up at an emergency room in the area and then was transported to a hospital.

Police say no description of that person is available.
