Caon City Middle School lockdown lifted

Law enforcement searched Caon City Middle School Tuesday after a silent alarm was activated.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says the alarm was tripped accidentally.

Caon City School District District security says that when a button linked to the system is pushed, a blue light flashes in hallways and classrooms. The light signals students and staff to go into lockdown immediately.

The lockdown was being lifted Tuesday afternoon. The sheriff’s office says classes will resume as scheduled.

Main Street was closed in front of the school while law enforcement swept the area to confirm that the activation of the alarm was accidental.
