Snow prompts law enforcement agencies to go on accident alert, cold reporting

Pueblo joined other southern Colorado law enforcement agencies Friday in advising drivers who are involved in minor traffic accidents to exchange information and file police reports later because of the snowy weather.

The list of agencies on accident alert or cold reporting includes the Colorado Springs Police Department, the Pueblo Police Department and Colorado State Patrol in El Paso and Teller counties.

Accident alert means that drivers do not need to report minor accidents right away. Instead, you can file a “cold” report with the appropriate agency.

Police should be called if there are injuries, drugs or alcohol are suspected, if one of the involved drivers does not have valid license, registration and insurance or if public property such as a utility pole or street sign is damaged.
