Manning will start in Playoffs, Osweiler not forgotten

“It was good to be back out there today,” said newly named Broncos starting quarterback Peyton Manning. “I look forward to being able to contribute.”

The sheriff rides again!

As Manning prepares for a playoff run he says this season is one to write home about.

“I could probably write a pretty good short story about this past offseason and this season,” said Manning.

He also recognizes having down time due to injury may be beneficial.

“It’s not as much fun as being a part of the team,” said Manning. “But I guess the positive of that is it gives your body time to heal and feel a little better so i try to take advantage of that.”

As Manning took the field inside the Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse on his first day back after being named the starter, Brock Osweiler was nowhere to be found – citing a knee injury.

“Brock’s probably mad at me,” said running back C.J. Anderson, referring to his second half fumble against the Chargers in Week 17.

As Anderson so eloquently put it – Osweiler wasn’t on the practice field but he was on the mind of many Broncos players.

“Of course we feel for Brock. Brock put us in the position where we are today,” said Anderson.

“It was a situation where your starting quarterback got hurt,” said cornerback Aqib Talib. “The backup quarterback had to come in and play and he did a hell of a job. Now the starter’s healthy and it’s time for him to get his job back.”

Once we finally found Osweiler – he voiced full support for the team.

“Woulda, coulda, shoulda, who knows,” said Osweiler, a bit frustrated. “I didn’t finish the game [against the Chargers], Peyton is going to start in the playoffs, and that’s something I support 100-percent. We’re all in everyone’s corner, we all support each other, and at the end of the day I just care about this team winning games.”
