Two arrested after man says he was stabbed while trying to help broken down driver

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says two people it was looking for in connection to an attempted murder investigation have been taken into custody.

The unidentified victim says he was trying to help someone who was broken down on County Road 1A when he was attacked. The man was stabbed several times and suffered life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the victim ran down the road toward the Cotopaxi store and flagged down another driver, but his ordeal wasn’t over. They say the man’s attackers chased him down in his own vehicle and rammed the vehicle that picked him up before driving away.

The victim’s stolen vehicle was later found abandoned nearby.

The Fremont County Investigations Unit says it is looking for Sean Overstreet, 37. He is listed as a person of interest.

Sean Overstreet, 37, was arrested at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop in Cotopaxi.

Courtney Plante, 19, was arrested during a traffic stop in Florence at around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Plante is being held at the Fremont County Jail without bond. She faces charges for attempted first degree murder, assault and aggravated motor vehicle theft.

You’re asked to call Detective Sgt. Mike Jolliffe at 719-276-5547 if you know where he is.
