Cheyenne Mountain Zoo receives $1 million donation

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has received an anonymous $1 million donation. The zoo says the donation will go towards conservation programs.

Last summer, a landslide forced the zoo to move 1,457 Wyoming toads and tadpoles as well as 42 black-footed ferrets into a temporary home. The zoo says the building’s loss jeopardizes the success of its conservation programs.

The zoo hopes to have a new conservation center opened by 2020. That building will also highlight the zoo’s work with amphibians in Panama.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is one of only 10 accredited zoos in the U.S. that does not receive any tax support.
