House fire in Larkspur causes large plume of smoke

A large plume of black smoke was visible for miles in southern Colorado.

Many people thought it was coming from the Mount Herman area west of Palmer Lake.

The Wildland Fire Crew from El Paso County, Tri-Lakes Fire Department and Larkspur Fire Department searched the Mount Herman area but did not find the source.

Our news partners at KDVR confirmed the smoke actually came from a house fire in Larkspur.

It happened in an area that was difficult to locate and access.

The house is considered a total loss.

Fire crews are still investigating.
