El Paso County accepting recycled Christmas trees

El Paso County’s annual Christmas tree recycling program got underway Saturday. It will continue on Saturdays and Sundays, January 2nd and 3rd and January 9th and 10th, 2016.

There are six locations throughout the County open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekend where you can drop off used trees and pick up free mulch if you want. You will need your own tools to load the mulch.

The six Treecycle collection sites are:

Colorado Springs Memorial Park – Enter from Pikes Peak between Hancock and Union
Baptist Road Trailhead – McLaughlin Road SW of Woodmen
Falcon Trailhead – Old Denver Highway north of Baptist
Cottonwood Creek Park – Montarbor just north of Dublin
Sky Sox Stadium – Tutt just south of Barnes
Rock Ledge Ranch – Garden of the Gods Park Entrance at 30th Street

Extended TreeCycle is available at Rocky Top Resources, 1755 E Las Vegas Street. Rocky Top will accept trees Monday thru Saturday, December 28 thru January 30th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is closed Sundays.

There is a suggested tax deductible fee of $5.00.

One-hundred percent of all money collected benefits community youth sports programs through El Pomar Youth Sports.
