One person sent to the hospital after shooting in Security

One person is in the hospital after a shooting in Security around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots fired call in the 200 block of Cunningham Drive.

Deputies say there was a shootout during a party behind a home in the area, which had as many as 50 people in attendance. A majority of them coming from another party in Colorado Springs.

Lisa Logan is a neighbor in the area. She said the shooting made it a frightening night.

“We got our family staying with us and the first thing you think is, is it going to hit the house, we need to get away from the windows and that kind of thing, so it was very scary,” she said.

The victim is expected to recover.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
