Springs man accused of killing brother makes court appearance

The Colorado Springs Police Department says a man faces a manslaughter charge in connection to his brother’s death.

Kevin Caperton, 54, was found dead in a parking lot in the 3700 block of Rebecca Lane at around 7:15 a.m. Sunday (12/27/15).

The coroner’s office says Caperton died from a lacerated neck artery due to being restrained. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Caperton’s brother, Keith Caperton, 56, was arrested Tuesday.

In court Wednesday, Keith Caperton’s bond was set at $10,000. His next court date was scheduled for January 6 at 8:30 a.m.

There have been 26 homicides in Colorado Springs in 2015. There were 23 homicides in the city in 2014.
