Pueblo Firefighters will receive new fire trucks
The Pueblo Fire Department will receive some much needed equipment.
Pueblo City Council voted in favor of two new fire pumper trucks, along with vehicles for fire department staff, Monday night (12/28/15).
Fire Captain Justin Hunter said his truck, fire engine 7, has been through some of Colorado’s largest wildfires, including the Black Forest Fire, but the truck is almost 20 years old and he said it needs to be replaced.
“It is still reliable, at this point it’s just the truck’s condition is deteriorating,” he said.
The fire department said it will put two fire pump trucks out of commission to make room for the new trucks.
The department said the total cost for the new vehicles will be almost $1 million.
City Manager Sam Azad said since the sales tax revenue is up this year, the city is able to afford them.
“We are hoping to make their life a little easier; you know provide them with better tools to do their work,” he said.
