East Springs garbage fire may have started at homeless camp

The Colorado Springs Fire Department said it responded to a report of a fire near Platte Avenue and Wooten Road Monday morning.

The Cimarron Hills Fire Department also responded.

Platte and Wooten is located about two miles west of the Platte Avenue and Powers Boulevard interchange.

A KRDO viewer shared a picture of smoke that was taken from Platte Avenue and Chelton Road.

Colorado Springs firefighters say the fire burned in garbage, possibly from a homeless camp.

The size of the fire was estimated at 15’x20′.
