Christmas tree recycling returns this weekend

El Paso County is once again offering an environmentally friendly way to get rid of your Christmas tree, and you could even get some free mulch out of it.

TreeCycle 2016 will be held on January 2, January 3, January 9 and January 10.

There are six collection sites throughout the county which will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on those days.

In addition to unloading your tree, you can also grab some free mulch, however you have to bring your own tools and load the mulch yourself.

The six TreeCycle collection sites are:

Colorado Springs Memorial Park– Enter from Pikes Peak between Hancock and Union
Baptist Road Trailhead– Old Denver Highway north of Baptist
Falcon Trailhead– McLaughlin Road SW of Woodmen
Cottonwood Creek Park– Montarbor just north of Dublin
Sky Sox Stadium– Tutt just south of Barnes
Rock Ledge Ranch– Garden of the Gods Park Entrance at 30 th Street

Extended TreeCycle is available at Rocky Top Resources, 1755 E Las Vegas Street. Rocky Top will accept treesMondaythrough Saturday, December 28through January 30 th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is closed Sundays.

There is a suggested tax deductible fee of $5.00. One-hundred percent of all money collected benefits community youth sports programs through El Pomar Youth Sports.
