Day after Christmas considered 3rd-busiest shopping day of the year

If you thought Christmas shopping was over, think again. Many retailers opened up their doors early Saturday morning for returns and exchanges.

It’s been a busy shopping day in Colorado springs and across the U.S. This year, retailers estimate that total annual returns will reach more than $260 billion.

A local shop owner says they see more exchanges than returns today, but they’re anticipating an even bigger turnout because of the weather.

“With it being extremely cold today, I know that we’ll have lots of people coming in because they’ll find they don’t have the right winter clothing or gear that they needed. So I’m expecting we’ll see a lot of folks today,” said Elaine Smith, co-owner at Mountain Chalet.

The day after Christmas is considered the third-busiest shopping day of the year.
