EMTs surprise patients at Penrose hospital

A hospital might not be the ideal place to spend the holidays, but emergency medical technicians did something special to put patients in the Christmas spirit.

EMTs from Citywide ambulance dressed up as Santa and elves while they transported patients to and from Penrose hospital Christmas day.

They said patients were surprised and happy to see them dressed up.

“Hospitals are great, but they’re not where you want to be for the holidays. So we feel really blessed that we’re able to take people home on a day like today, so they can spend time with their families,” said Jeremy Gutz, EMT.

Gutz says they wanted to do something special, and it was the best Christmas gift they could give.

It’s the first year Citywide ambulance did this and say they’re already looking forward to next year.
