Colorado Springs home lights up tradition for 15 years and counting

It’s a Christmas tradition that’s brightened Colorado Springs for the past 15 years. A family lights up their home every year and it’s all programmed to music.

The house is on the north side of the Springs in the Briargate area and it’s not hard to miss.

“We love it. They did a really good job with the color scheme. The songs are great, the light show is perfect,” said Jonathan Monteith.

It started as a strand of Christmas lights 15 years ago and turned into more than 15,000 lights over the years. The homeowner says he originally put up the lights for his Autistic son but it grew into a family tradition outside his own.

“It is our favorite. Every year he does something a little different. The screen this year from Star Wars is really cool,” said Tammy Luedtke.

The homeowner started stringing lights as early as July. It’s caught attention from drivers across the U.S.

“We came down from Texas and on our way heard about this house and drove here,” said Vish Vesh Batt.

The homeowner does it all at no cost but has a mailbox outside the home where all proceeds are donated to The Wounded Warrior Project and Ronald McDonald House.

The display is up from Thanksgiving through New Years.
