Full Moon Christmas

We will have the first full moon on Christmas in nearly forty years. The last time this happened was in 1977, and won’t occur again until 2034.

A full moon at Christmas means different things to different people. Scientists see it one way – spiritualists see it another.

According to Hal Bidlack, PhD, Vice President of the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society, it’s simply a mathematical happenstance.

He told us that “I wouldn’t say it’s coincidence, as much as a mathematical certainty, because the lunar calendar is only around 28 days, and our calendars are 30 or 31”.

Dr. Ahriana Platten, Senior Minister at the Unity Spiritual Center in Colorado Springs, sees this as a delightful combination of a Pagan celebration in concert with a Christian one, which elevates it’s potential.

She said, “The moon’s influence takes us into a very deep intuitive center. This is a good time to be asking of your own deep soul, what would you like to create in your life?”

You may not be able to catch Santa Claus, but you can catch the full moon. It will peak just after 4 A.M. Christmas morning.
