Pueblo Unity Walk to end gang violence

Hundreds of people came together in Pueblo to march for an end to gang violence.

The Pillars, a newly formed group, is trying to tackle gang issues while bringing the community together.

Leaders said they organized the march after too many people became victims of the violence.

They hoped the Unity Walk raised awareness about the dangers of the groups while reminding the community that Pueblo is still a safe place to live.

“The walk is about awareness. The walk is about saying to people, ‘This is our community,'” leader Joe Latino said. “We need to work together, from the young people to the seniors. No one should be scared to go out at night anymore.”

Leaders of The Pillars is also trying to educate children so they understand there are other options than joining a gang.
