Springs police notify neighborhood of sexually violent predator

Colorado Springs Police say a sexually violent predator has moved into a neighborhood on the east side of the city.

Lloyd Herrera, 41, is registered in the 3000 block of E. Platte Avenue.

Police say that Herrera was convicted of attempted sexual assault on a child in Jefferson County in 2005. He also has prior convictions for sexual assault-10 year age difference and failure to register as a sex offender.

There are currently 16 sexually violent predators registered in Colorado Springs.

State law requires local law enforcement to notify the community when a sexually violent predator moves to a new address.
