Retired Army colonel to be formally charged in crash that killed trooper

A retired Army colonel accused of hitting and killing a Colorado State Trooper on I-25 in Douglas County is due back in court Friday.

Formal charges are expected to be filed against Eric Henderson, 52, in the death of Trooper Jaimie Jursevics, 33.

Henderson faces charges of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence and careless driving resulting in death.

Jursevics was investigating a minor accident on November 15 when she was hit.

Investigators say Henderson left the scene of the crash. He was later arrested by Palmer Lake Police.

Jursevics is survived by her husband and infant daughter. She joined state patrol in January 2011.
