Local tattoo studio offers free ‘Star Wars’ tattoos

A Colorado Springs tattoo studio offered free “Star Wars” tattoos Friday for fans wanting to commemorate the release of the new movie, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

The owner of Creator Supreme Tattoo Studio, who goes by Paes164, told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that they were looking for a way to give back to the community and drum up excitement for art and the movie premiere.

“We thought we’d throw it out there and probably have a lot of our regulars show up, and thought we’d stay fairly busy,” Paes said. “An hour before the doors opened, we already had 30 people here, so I think it’s going to be pretty crazy. There’s a lot of ‘Star Wars’ support in Colorado Springs.”

One of the fans getting inked, Brad Dean, said the permanent “Star Wars” reminder goes beyond the movie. He and a childhood friend, Josh Stoller, bonded over a love for “Star Wars.”

“He’s totally the bigger fan. He’s read all the side books between the movies. Huge, huge fan,” Dean said. “It’s a passion almost. He reads the books more than he watches TV.”

Stoller passed away unexpectedly earlier this year and Dean wanted to get the tattoo to honor his memory. What’s more, Paes incorporated some of Stoller’s ashes in the ink.

“Just a pinch, so it’s totally fine,” Paes said. “Your body will accept it with the organic pigment.”

“It’s not only a memorial tattoo, which is very common, but I have a piece of him with me, in me, for life,” Dean said. “I’m super excited and happy that I can remember him in what I feel is one of the most honorable ways to remember a fallen friend.”
