Job Description:
The Chief Photographer is a regular duty photographer who also supervises and directs all other photographers to help achieve the departmental plan to make our television news the best source and the first choice for local news in our market.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Hire and supervise all photographers and editors with advice and consent of News Director
Establish and enforce policies to maximize efficient use of news department manpower and equipment resources Coordinate with engineering department to maintain equipment and vehicles Assist News Director with long range planning for the equipment staffing and goals of the department
Coordinate with Assignment Editor and Assistant News Director to create weekly photographer work schedules that support news coverage plans and requirements with minimum overtime Critique, coach and evaluate photographers and editors Maintain tape, lights and other photographer supply inventory Maintain and supervise maintenance of video archives Assist News Director in regular maintenance of electronic files in video editor
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of three years experience in photojournalism and broadcast news
Good time management skills Excellent photographer and editor Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced environment Good organizational skills Good communicator Previous Chief Photographer experience preferred
