Woman prompts chain reaction of giving at McDonald’s
A woman started a chain reaction of giving at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Lakeland, Florida, Wednesday morning.
The Huffington Post reports some 250 people copied Tori Keene’s gesture by paying for the meal of the person in line behind them. According to KSTP, one woman even paid for three meals.
The drive-thru giving started when Keene told cashier Marisabel Figueroa she wanted to pay for the food for the people behind her, the Business Insider reports. Figueroa told ABC News Keene asked her to tell the person “Merry Christmas” and that the meal had been paid for.
Figueroa said customers continued to pay it forward for most of her six-hour shift, according to the Business Insider.
“I just kept giving everyone the same message, and they were all so stunned and so happy,” she told ABC News. She said that in her 12 years of working for McDonald’s she’d “never experienced something like that before,” according to ABC News.
