Post office prepares for busiest day of year
The U.S. Postal Service is preparing for the biggest mailing day of the year Monday.
Nationally, the post office expects more than 612 million pieces of mail to go out Monday, a 10.5 percent increase compared to last year. Locally, the post office expects 58,000 packages to go out from Colorado Springs.
Those wishing for their cards and gifts to arrive in time for Christmas must mail them out by the following dates:
Dec. 15 – Standard Post
Dec. 19 – First Class Mail
Dec. 19 – Global Express Guaranteed
Dec. 21 – Priority Mail
Dec. 23 – Priority Mail Express
USPS staff recommends customers do their mailing from home. Customers can buy and print postage online and request for a mail carrier to pick it up. They can also get real-time notifications on select mail at myusps.com.
