Police: Armed driver dies after shot by Mountain View cop
A driver shot by a police officer after allegedly pulling out a shotgun during a traffic stop in Denver has died.
The shooting happened Sunday night after an officer from the town of Mountain View stopped the vehicle a few blocks into neighboring Denver. Police say the man got out of the vehicle with the shotgun and the officer fired at him.
Police initially said the man, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries but announced Monday morning that he had died.
Mountain View police spokesman Kirk Firko says it’s not uncommon for officers from the small community near the Denver border to end up pulling over cars just after they’ve passed the border.
Denver police are investigating the shooting.
