Families who lost loved ones in the military get a special vacation

Kids who lost their loved ones during military action are being treated to a special holiday trip.

The annual Snowball Express happened Saturday. The event helps out families of fallen soldiers.

American Airlines picked up about 30 kids and their families from the Colorado Springs Airport to bring them to Texas.

They will tour Dallas and Fort Worth for the next five days.

Aubry Haney lost her dad when he was on a mission in Afghanistan. She said she is going to miss her dad, but she looks forward to this trip because she’s going in memory of him.

“I didn’t know what it was, so I asked my mom and she said, ‘It’s this fun thing that we are going to do and it’s about your dad,’ and I was like, ‘Sounds fun,’ so I was excited,” she said.

1,700 kids from all over the U.S. are being picked up for this trip.
