UPDATE: Man accused of going into girl’s bedroom, trying to sexually assault her makes court appearance

The man accused of going into a girl’s bedroom and trying to sexually assault her made a court appearance Friday.

The suspect has been identified as Robert O’Bryant, 55. He faces charges for sexual assault on a child, burglary, trespassing and indecent exposure.

O’Bryant’s next court appearance is Jan. 8. He is to have no contact with anyone under 18 and he is prohibited from consuming drugs and alcohol. If it is found he breaks these conditions, he will be arrested, a judge said Friday.

Colorado Springs Police Department says the crime happened at around 2 a.m. on November 16, 2015 in the 5100 block of Airport Road on the southeast side of the city.

Police announced an arrest in the case on December 3, 2015.

Police say a man, who they believe was O’Bryant, woke the girl up by knocking on her bedroom window. They say he then climbed in through the window, asked for her name and tried to pull her underwear down.

Police say O’Bryant threatened the girl and left through the bedroom window when she screamed.

The girl’s father heard her screaming and went into her bedroom. He said the window was open and the man was gone.

Anyone with information is asked to call Colorado Springs Police at 719-444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867).
