Fountain Police say gun found hidden in baby’s bassinet during search

The Fountain Police Department says a 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found hidden in a baby’s bassinet during a search warrant execution on Wednesday (12/9/15).

Officers and detectives were searching a home in the 800 block of S. Santa Fe. Avenue as part of a theft investigation when the discovery was made.

Police say the gun was among several items related to the investigation that were found in the home.

Zachary Peasely, 29, and Corey Cobb, 27, were arrested.

Peasely was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant. Cobb faces charges for being a convicted felon in possession of a gun and reckless endangerment.

Police say both men might face additional charges pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Fountain Police Department says five children and their mother were in the home when the search warrant was executed.

Detectives helped comfort the children in the home by reading to them and feeding them until case workers with the Department of Human Services arrived.
