Father faces charges in deaths of boys who drowned in Las Animas County pond

The father of two boys who drowned in a pond in Weston Friday (12/4/15) has been arrested.

Silvino Garcia faces two counts of child abuse criminal negligence resulting in death, which is a class three felony.

Jorge Pancho-Garcia, 9, and Orlando Pancho-Garcia, 4, drowned after falling through the ice on a pond near their home in Weston, about 23 miles west of Trinidad.

Garcia and the boys’ mother, Catalina Pancho, spoke to KRDO NewsChannel 13 on Monday.
