Police: Fountain woman made threats to Republican Party in call to Planned Parenthood (updated)
A Fountain woman faces a menacing charge after police say she threatened the Republican Party in a call to Planned Parenthood.
Police say Fern DeLise, 54, placed the call on Tuesday December 8, 2015.
The call was placed to the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood office and re-routed to the Denver office because the Springs facility remains closed following the Black Friday shooting there.
According to an arrest affidavit, DeLise called Planned Parenthood to make an appointment. It says that when DeLise was told she would have to drive to the Planned Parenthood in Parker, she became irate and said it would be tempting to walk into a Republican Party meeting with her dead husband’s gun and just start shooting people.
The affidavit says that Fountain Police questioned neighbors and acquaintances about DeLise. It says that one acquaintance described DeLise as irrational and an extreme liberal who has expressed discontent towards Christians, Republicans and conservatives.
The affidavit says that neighbors described her as scary and said they were afraid of her attacking them. It says the neighbors also said they saw DeLise lash out at roof workers because they were Hispanic and that she accused street workers of tapping her lines.
The document says one neighbor told police that DeLise would sometimes just yell outside, and has been heard saying she hates Colorado and she wishes someone would just blow it up.
Police say that firearm accessories and ammunition were found when DeLise’s home was searched, but that no guns were found.
