the facility…you’ll hear more about that plan at 6. live at centennial hall in colorado ng spris, eric fink, k-r-d-o newschannel 13. southern colorado law enforcement officers say they’re on high alert after the planned parenthood attack and the halloween rampage. they’re taking no chances – reacting and responding to even the smallest threats. as krdo newschannel 13’s greg miller shows us… the public has become more dangerous. nats – i’m going to go ahead and pat you down, sir. officer charles stage has to approach every call, carefully. sot: this is business, nothing personal when you’re dealing with someone who’s irate and won’t comply. you’re entrusted with power from the citizens and through the city. just this afternoon, he responded domestic disturbance call. in this case, the man wanted was cooperative … but stage knows personally from the planned parenthood shooting, that’s not always the case. one of my instructors through the academy, he left to go be on the swat team, he’s one of the guys injured and shot in the leg. he’s always been vigilant … but now he’s not willing to take even the smallest chance. your chest gets tight, you start making phone calls, talking to the family and kids making sure they’re okay. greg: and the police chief in fountain admits, they’re job has become more dangerous. heber: the certainty is that somebody in our country is planning something to try and hurt americans. as law enforcement we have to be prepared. chief chris heberer says it’s harder to be a police officer these days… we have to train our officers to look at best practices and incorporate lessons learned. traing that is changing … because of increased violence in our community and the world. chief
