Utilities Board approves rate changes
If you live in Colorado Springs you’re about to pay a little less for utilities.
The average bill for residential customers will go down by just under 1 percent.
Rates for water will go up slightly, but natural gas rates will go down.
Utilities decided to leave wastewater rates unchanged for all users.
The base rate for electricity will go up as well. Colorado Springs Utilities says the money will go toward meeting regulatory obligations.
“That slight increase is to pay for infrastructure improvements around our scrubber projects at our power plants,” the utilities’ Dave Grossman said of the hike in electricity rates.
Rates for commercial and industrial users will go down.
