Recruits are on the verge of becoming firefighters

The Pueblo Fire Department is about to get more manpower to help fight fires.

Seven recruits are on the final week of training at the fire academy.

They went through 10 weeks to reach this point.

Recruit Shanna Jeske said she wants to be a firefighter because her father was a police officer, who risked his life to keep people safe.

“I enjoy helping people. It’s something I enjoyed since I was little. I enjoy the aspect of it. No day is ever the same. Definitely not a boring career,” she said.

The recruits will graduate Thursday at Memorial Hall. The ceremony is set to happen at 4:30 p.m.
