Fort Carson soldiers begin Operation Stryker Christmas

Thousands of Fort Carson soldiers began a long hike to help those in need this holiday season.

This is the sixth year of Operation Stryker Christmas. About 2,500 soldiers are hiking 25 miles with full gear from Fort Carson to the Marion House in Colorado Springs. Only KRDO Newschannel 13 got an inside look at the beginning of the hike.

The soldiers packed clothes, canned good and toys donated by the soldiers and their families.

They began the trek Thursday night and will make it to Fountain and Security-Widefield, according to Fort Carson.

The soldiers will end up at the Marion House on Friday morning.
