Retired sheriff honors fallen officer Garrett Swasey with blue light tribute

A retired Alameda County sheriff is honoring fallen UCCS police officer, Garrett Swasey.

Swasey was a University of Colorado police officer who died in the line of duty on Nov. 27 during a shooting at the Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs

Glenn Moon is a retired Alameda County sheriff of 30 years. He recently moved to Colorado Springs from California and when he heard what happened to Swasey he wanted to honor him.

“I worked with a couple of officers that were killed in the line of duty and felt the impact of their loss with the agency and especially the family. It’s important to show support for them,” said Moon.

Moon says it’s common for people to honor fallen officers with blue lights. He hopes by putting the blue lights outside his home it will catch on with others.
