Mountain Metro is getting new buses
Mountain Metro is about to get bigger.
And it’s going to get more energy efficient at the same time.
The Colorado Springs bus service is adding six buses to its fleet.
The buses cost more than $400,000 apiece and are paid for with a combination of local and federal money.
Despite the cost, Mountain Metro officials say the buses will help pay for themselves and will be better for the planet.
“These vehicles are more efficient because of a combination of the new engine technology, low sulfur diesel fuel and effective emissions control, which combine to create near zero emissions,” said Brian Vitulli.
The new buses will be rolled into service in the next week.
