9-year-old Monument girl turns struggle into giving
A southern Colorado girl is showing how to turn a difficult situation into something positive.
Corinne Watne, 9, was evacuated from her home during the Waldo Canyon Fire. The fire ruined her home, along with her personal things. Her way to cope was to help others. Her latest effort was to make no-sew fleece blankets for kids at the Children’s Hospital in Aurora.
“It feels like if some kids are going through a tragic time, it would be good for them to have something special,” she said.
Corinne’s goal was to make 20 blankets by Dec. 1. But her story touched so many people, money and materials poured in. With the help of others, she made 32 blankets.
She said others don’t have to go through tragedy to give back.
“Kindness and love should always be shared,” she said.
