SWAT action captured on store surveillance camera

A liquor store’s surveillance camera provides a glimpse of the intense law enforcement activity surrounding last week’s Black Friday shooting in Colorado Springs.

Steins & Vines Liquors recorded a group of SWAT officers backing down the sidewalk, behind shields, in front of several businesses near the Planned Parenthood at Fillmore Street and Centennial Boulevard.

The video was recorded around the time when law enforcement officers began a shootout with Robert Dear, 57. Dear later surrendered and is accused of killing three people, including University of Colorado-Colorado Springs police Officer Garrett Swasey.

In the video, four SWAT officers are walking backwards from the shooting scene while escorting bystanders to safety. Several other officers are shown running toward Planned Parenthood.

The shooting forced the closure of many businesses in an adjacent shopping center for much of the busy holiday weekend.
