Man arrested in Pueblo County in connection with shooting

Authorities have arrested a man believed to be involved in a fatal shootout between the occupants of two vehicles in Bessemer.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports that 19-year-old Daniel Dedmon was arrested Sunday after leading officers on a foot chase. He is being held in the Pueblo County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the Nov. 15 incident.

Authorities believe Dedmon was a passenger in a Toyota Camry that fled the scene and later crashed following an exchange of gunfire. The driver, 31-year-old Daniel Sanchez, of Monte Vista, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Sanchez and Dedmon are believed to have been shot in the incident.

The other driver involved in the shooting has not yet been identified.
