Pueblo law enforcement members honor fallen officer from Black Friday shooting
Even though UCCS Officer Garrett Swasey’s death happened in Colorado Springs, that’s not keeping Pueblo law enforcement members from honoring him.
They wore black shrouds over their badges Saturday in remembrance of Swasey.
Sgt. Daniel Anderson said Swasey’s actions will never be forgotten.
“I think from what everyone has seen, what we’ve heard, Officer Swasey is a hero. He did his job, and he’s in our thoughts and prayers,” he said.
Anderson also said members of the law enforcement agencies who responded to Friday’s shooting are heroes as well.
He said even though Swasey wasn’t an officer in Pueblo, they are still affected by his death.
“It’s a sense of mourning for everyone because that could happen to anybody no matter what town, what state, what city. There is a sense of mourning throughout the department on what happened,” Anderson said.
He said the department will send officers to Swasey’s funeral.
