Shoppers brave cold temperatures for hot deals
Shoppers braved cold temperatures and slick roads for Black Friday deals Thursday night.
Best Buy opened its doors to shoppers at 5 p.m., though people started lining up days before the opening.
Ahmed Hassan was the first person in line. He’s camped out before for Black Friday deals, but this year was challenging.
“Oh man, it’s been really cold. Probably the coldest Black Friday since I have been here,” said Hassan.
His younger brother Lauk Hassan was excited to get inside and shop and get out of the cold.
“It’s been pretty cold, I’m getting a runny nose right now. And it’s nothing like I ever seen before, it’s colder than before,” said Hassan.
Drivers battled snow and ice on the roads, then long lines inside the store.
“We left probably about 5 O’clock, and this is from Union and Black Forest, and the roads were actually icy, I had to throw it in 4-wheel drive just to go,” said Kevin Carpenter.
“It’s snowing a bit, the roads are a bit icy but not really that bad if you go slow,” said Denise Nonko.
“Very slippery, very icy. I would strongly suggest people take it slow. Be cautious. There are a lot of slick spots out there,” said David Caron.
Temperatures are expected to stay low Friday and more snow will likely fall. Drivers should not expect to see improvements on the road until the weekend.
