Springs Police release surveillance photos of serial robber
The Colorado Springs Police Department is looking for a woman who it says has robbed five banks and tried to rob two others since September.
The robber wears a scarf over her head, large gold-framed sunglasses, silver hoop earrings and carries a light colored, patterned tote bag with black straps and trim.
Detective Dale Fox said she is allegedly very casual while committing the crimes: she waits in line, then hands the teller a note demanding money.
He said it is unusual to see a woman robbing banks.
“We see women are sometimes involved in helping a man, but this is unique that she is going after banks several on her own,” Fox said. “We do have about one woman every year who is a serial robber.”
Fox said the woman isn’t known to the department, and they need help identifying her.
The crimes happened at the following banks:
Ace Cash Express, 1453 South Murray Bl. on 9/11/2015
US Bank, 2890 Powers Bl. on 9/11/2015,
Wells Fargo Bank, 5710 Constitution Av on 10/5/2015 TCF Bank, 9265 North Union Bl. on 10/20/2015 TCF Bank, 5470 East Woodmen Rd on 11/4/2015 TCF Bank, 4330 North Academy Bl. on 11/23/2015 Key Bank, 3605 Hartsel Dr. on 11/24/2015
