Neighbors help each other after Yoder fire

Eastern El Paso county continues to see high fire danger Wednesday night.

A fire in Yoder yesterday burned more than 150 acres.

Firefighters say quick thinking by residents kept the fire from getting worse.

One family was left homeless by the fire and Wednesday firefighters were still knocking down hot spots around that home.

That family has been taken in by neighbors.

“We’re taking care of her, giving her a place to live and just helping her out with…anything she needs out of the house we take of it for her,” said Tom Newell.

Firefighters say the fire was driven by a combination of high winds and dry brush.
