Volunteers prepare for annual Thanksgiving dinner
Thanksgiving is still two days away, but preparations are well underway in Pueblo.
Volunteers were at the Clarion Inn Tuesday, shredding turkeys and slicing vegetables. Organizers expect between 1,200 to 1,500 people to stop by the Pueblo Union Depot Thursday for Thanksgiving dinner.
“This is the meal for many of these folks that they depend on every day of the year and throughout the year, so this meal’s important for two reasons; one to feed the people that need to be fed but also to remind people that there are people that need this sort of care 364 days throughout the year,” said Jerry Carter, who’s organizing the event.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Carter said they have enough volunteers, but those interested in donating desserts can drop them off at the Clarion Inn or at Union Depot.
