Man found shot to death behind Springs car wash identified

Colorado Springs Police have released the name of a man who was found shot to death in a field near a southeast side car wash.

He was Vance Christian Wilfong, 22.

Wilfong’s body was found in a field near S. Academy Blvd. and E. Pikes Peak Ave.

Police were investigating a report of a shooting when they made the discovery.

The call for help came in at 1:29 p.m. on November 20, 2015.

An autopsy has been completed. Wilfong’s cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound and his death has been ruled a homicide.

Police say Wilfong was a transient.
