People give away food in honor of two reverends
It’s a living memorial that’s meant to honor two reverends who were murdered almost 20 years ago in Pueblo.
The annual Tom and Louie’s Cupboard event was Saturday.
The event was started to remember Fr. Tom Scheets and Fr. Louis Stovik. They were stabbed to death at St. Leander Church in 1996 in Pueblo.
Since then, the Pueblo community has come together to give food to people in need before Thanksgiving.
“Just giving back to everyone and whenever you deliver a box and you see how happy it makes people and just to kids our age having an impact in the community,” East High School student Katie Simony said.
500 boxes of food were given away at the event.
