Fire chief wants new station in Pueblo West

Emergency calls are increasing in Pueblo West, and the fire chief wants to build another fire station to help meet the need.

Fire Chief Brian Caserta said the new station would be located on Industry and McCulloch on the district’s west side.

Caserta said emergency calls in that part of the district have doubled in the last five years.

He said the new fire station would cut down the response time to get there.

“Response times are important to us, and whether it is a medical emergency someone is suffering or there is a house on fire, a rapid response from firefighters is very important,” Caserta said.

The fire chief hopes to have construction started within the next two years.

A new fire station would cost about $1 million.
