Church feeds 1,500 people free Thanksgiving dinner

More than 1,500 people in need were given a free Thanksgiving dinner Friday night.

This is the 16th year Victory World Outreach has offered free meals and given people a warm place to have a Thanksgiving dinner.

This tradition started with 200 people and has grown to 1,500.

The church offers it to anyone but focuses on bringing in the homeless for a night. Volunteers spent Friday morning driving around Colorado Springs picking up the homeless.

“There were so many people we couldn’t even bring them all in. When we showed up at the warming shelters and those places we had vans but there were still piles of people,” said Pastor Richard Marshall, Victory World Outreach.

The church says they anticipate on breaking their attendance record and hope to feed even more people next year
