Trinidad digs out from latest storm
Warm, sunny weather Wednesday helped Trinidad and Las Animas County thaw out from Monday’s winter storm.
Streets and roads were wet and sloppy with melting snow, but otherwise clear. The same was true of Interstate 25, which reopened Tuesday night after being closed because of the storm.
Piles of plowed snow were common downtown and on highway shoulders as plow drivers continued to clear those areas.
Residents said the storm virtually shut down the area Monday, forcing most people to stay home from work.
Ten inches of snow were officially reported in Trinidad, although some residents east and south of town said they had as much as 20 inches.
Because of warmer weather and melting snow, blowing snow wasn’t a problem in southern Colorado as it had been Monday and Tuesday.
